My childhood summers were spent with my grandmother Betta in Northern, New Mexico. It has long been my dream to restore an old adobe in this part of the country, where my parents and grandparents were born and raised.

Casa Betita is the dream realized. Named after my grandmother, the 100 year-old house was home to the same family for several generations. The house has been lovingly restored in traditional adobe style complete with 900 square feet of covered outdoor living (a table & chairs for 8 for dining alfresco), two kiva fireplaces, and coved and latilla ceilings. The two-foot thick adobe walls have been hand plastered by local craftsmen. The pastoral country property is completely secluded and private surrounded as it is by 8 foot coyote fencing and nestled under a giant 100 year old Willow Tree with a swing.

Casa Betita has all modern conveniences including a 6 person Hot Tub with outdoor shower, Gas BBQ grill, radiant heat floors, a fully equipped kitchen, two flat screen televisions with DVD players, Direct TV, Wireless Internet and a Bose iPod Dock, an outdoor fireplace and several outdoor seating areas to choose from.

Casa Betita is the perfect place for a family vacation, romantic get-away, or solitary retreat for writers, artists and those in search of renewal.

According to University of New Mexico Anthropology Professor Emeritus Sylvia Rodriguez, Casa Betita is situated in one of the oldest placitas in Taos, called La Purisima. The name of the placita presumably is derived from the name of the little church (actually a capilla) at the end of the lane.
